Caroline (Lucia) Chambrone

Mrs. Caroline (Lucia) Chambrone, age 94, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2008. Born in Utica on February 28, 1913, Caroline was the daughter of the late Antonio and Catherine (Renzi) Lucia. She was raised and educated locally. On August 9, 1937 she married Joseph V. Chambrone, with whom she shared 47 years prior to his passing on July 4, 1985. The couple shared in an insightful relationship that revolved around family and devotion to one another. Caroline was a woman of strong character and a truly independent nature. She made herself available to be of help to her children and their families especially in the capacity of “babysitting”. She was so proud of her grandchildren and the following generations, and was always concerned about what was happening in their lives. A fine cook, Caroline made the largest meatballs that just melted in your mouth, and she appreciated a good meal complemented by a glass of wine. She cherished the memories of the days spent at camp in Old Forge where she enjoyed horseback riding and fishing. In fact, she had a strong attachment and fondness for animals, and always had pets in her home. As a pastime, she took pleasure in playing cards with her friends. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Caroline is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph A. Sr. and Frances Chambrone of Utica. She was predeceased by her two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Ann and Anthony Lewis, and Eleanor Tartaglia Velardi, and by her step-son, Louis Chambrone. In addition, she leaves her grandchildren, Rosemary Ajaeb, Joseph A. Chambrone and fiancée Paula Schnitt, Michael and Jennifer Chambrone, Theresa and Jim Chamberlin, Anthony G. and Dena Lewis, Todd J. Lewis and Cherie Burdick, Carol and Raymond Dybacz, Antoinette and Sarkis Zeina, Joseph and Laurie Tartaglia, Mary and Kenneth Heaton, Florence and Tracy Burton, and Dominick Velardi; her many great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She also had many close friends at the Margaret Knamm Apartments. She was predeceased by her brothers, Frank Lucia and Gene Renzi; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chester and Lena Chambrone. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center 4th Floor, and the staff of the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center, 2 East, who cared for Caroline with comfort, respect, and compassion. Visitation will be held Thursday (today) from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Caroline’s funeral service will commence on Friday morning at 10:30 from the funeral home and 11:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
