Carol C. Jones-Taurisano

UTICA – Carol C. Jones-Taurisano, age 62, experienced an unforeseen passing in the comfort and dignity of her home, on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Born in San Antonio, TX on December 7, 1961, Carol was the daughter of the late William S., III and Charlotte (Dinius) Jones. Raised and educated in Utica, she attended Kemble St. School and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy/Class of 1980. On September 28, 1986, Carol wed Michael A. Taurisano, Jr. They enjoyed each other’s company and created many memories. The couple shared over 19 years together prior to Michael’s passing on December 12, 2005. Carol began her professional career as a bartender at the original Grimaldi’s Restaurant, a position which she enjoyed very much and was well matched to her personality. She later became a manager for Burger King Corporation at the Oneida Square and New Hartford locations. Carol was a fun-loving sister. She loved to laugh and dance, enjoying all genres of music and appreciated the different eras. She was also known to savor a glass of good champagne. Though she never had children herself, she was lovingly known as “Aunt Ro” by her late nephew Christopher and his friends. She was so proud of their attachment to her. Animals were close to Carol’s heart, particularly her domestic feline Mahomes and her dog Ringo. Her pets got along very well and were a great source of companionship for her. Dining out with old friends was always an uplifting experience and a treasured time for Carol. She was the type of person who was always able to make a comeback, cherish life, and captivate each day. An avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, she dedicated her time to cheering them on every football season. Carol was a woman of determination. She was spirited, but grounded by her sister, Helen, and brother-in-law, Joe. They kept her life balanced and full of grace. Carol was connected to the Lord and depended upon Him for her strength. Carol is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosi and Helmut Bliss, and Helen and Joseph Swider; two nieces and their families who reside in Germany; and her lifelong friends, Elaine Grosshuesher, Kim Fredrick, as well as Patty LaFluer. These girls were true blessings in each other’s lives. During her lifetime, she adored and glowed over her late nephew, Christopher Joseph Michael “Swagg” Swider. The family wishes to specially thank UPD Sargeant Marrow, as well as the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office, who gave Helen great comfort during this most difficult time. The family will honor and commemorate Carol’s life at a private time. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Carol’s Memorial Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life, which will commence on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of Mass. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions in Carol’s honor may be made to the Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society at www.anitas-sshs.org; envelopes will also be available at the service. Inurnment will take place in Alder Creek Cemetery.
