Mrs. Carmella "Mella" (DeFiore) Servello

UTICA/CAPE CORAL, FL - Mrs. Carmella “Mella” (DeFiore) Servello, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Coral Trace Health Care with the love of her family in her heart. Born in Utica on October 8, 1928, Carmella was the daughter of the late Peter A. and Clementine Gracie “Clem” (Moracco) DeFiore. Raised and educated locally, she attended T.R. Proctor High School and then enrolled in Amendola’s School of Cosmetology where she received her credentials as a New York State Licensed Beautician. On October 9, 1954 she married Augustine “Gus” Servello. During their 63 years together, they were a caring, compatible couple. At one time, Mella was employed by the Boston Store, and she also worked as a hairdresser at Maria Tucci Hair Designs. Mella was a loving matriarch and most important and memorable in her life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and ceramics. During the summer months, she welcomed family and friends to her house and extended her hospitality to all to take a dip in the pool. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Carmella is survived by her husband, Augustine “Gus”; her children and their loved ones, Patricia A. Servello and fiancé Michael J. Zane of N. Utica; Nicholas P. Servello and Kim Checolo of Florida, and Peter A. Sr. and Diane R. Servello of Utica. She always cherished the memory of her twin daughters, Clementine and Angelina Marie Servello. She also leaves her grandchildren, Matthew J. Dodge Jr.; Ashley Madrid, Brittany and Michael Panicaro; Peter A. Servello Jr. and his companion Meghan Brown, and Paul and Yadira DeSantis; great-grandchildren, Christian; Jax; Wyatt, and Iliana; her sisters, Marie Fusco, and Frances Whitney, both of FL, and Justine “June” Lia of E. Utica; her uncle, Frank Moracco; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, brother-in-law, Floyd Cordisco; and her friends, Mary Testa and sisters. She was predeceased by her in-laws, Joseph S. Lia, Rodney Whitney, Angelo J. Fusco, Marian Cordisco, Grace and Joseph Czepiel, Josephine and Richard Hall, and Theresa Burke. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00–6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Carmella’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday evening at 6:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Pastor David Ossenfort officiating the ceremony. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
