Mrs. Carmella (Yacco) Ramsey Chowaniec

Mrs. Carmella (Yacco) Ramsey Chowaniec, age 64, a native Utican and currently a resident of Oswego, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Antoinette (Delia) Yacco. Raised and educated locally, she graduated from Mohawk Valley Community College. At one time she had been married to John Chowaniec who preceded her in death. Carm relocated to Oswego where she worked for various companies including Byrne Dairy, Howard's Office Supply, Kline’s Department Store, and Fulton Typewriter. She fulfilled one of her lifes dreams when she established and operated Carm's Cafe, and she truly enjoyed the friendships with her patrons. Socially and civically involved, Carm served on the County Elections Board, was a member of the Columbiettes and participated in the sport of bowling. Carm truly had a magnetic personality which earned her the love and admiration of many. She was often the center of attention because of her fun loving ways, and her ability to tell a story with much style, and she will be remembered as a wonderful person. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. "Robbie", Jr. and Elizabeth A. Ramsey of Oswego; her two daughters and son-in-law, Debra and Scott Bristol of Baldwinsville, and Mary Katheryn (Ramsey) Mangano of Oswego; her cherished grandchildren, Ryan, and Lindsey Ramsey; and Porter Bristol; her siblings and their spouses, Patrick and Suzanne Yacco of Utica, Rosemary and James Bouck of Ilion, and Dominick and Theresa Yacco of Oswego; her close friend, Joe Mangano; and the father of her children, Robert J. Ramsey, Sr. She will also be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and aunts and uncles, Raymond Yacco, Mary Diana, Antoinette Yacco, Marian Delia, Nancy Delia, Minnie Delia, and Peter Peters; as well as many loyal and loving friends. She was preceded in death by numerous aunts and uncles, Alexander "Leo" Yacco, Anthony and Fannie Yacco, Frank and Angie Yacco, Samuel and Artha Yacco, Armando and Beatrice Yacco, Donald and Fay Yacco, Theresa and Roy Staley, Josephine Yacco, Francis and Polly Delia, Carmen Delia, Angelo and Rosemary Delia, Michael Delia, Nicholas Delia, Carmella and Frank DiFlo, Frances Peters, and Rosalind and Guy Viti, Sr. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial gathering to commemorate Carm’s life which will commence on Wednesday, May 16th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
