Mr. Carl A. Fuoco

Mr. Carl A. Fuoco, age 97, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at the Katherine Luther Residential Health Care Center with the love and support of his daughter. Born in Utica on January 28, 1917, Carl was the son of the late James and Rose (Giannotti) Fuoco. Raised and educated locally, he continued his education at Rider College in New Jersey where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. A veteran of World War II, Carl honorably served his country in the United States Army. On November 16, 1957 he married the former Kathleen J. “Kay” Emma with whom he shared 41 years prior to her passing on July 29, 1999. Carl worked as a Project Manager for the Municipal Housing Authority, retiring in 1985. A professional, precise, and detail oriented employee he was committed to all his endeavors. Carl was a dutiful husband and father. Very soft spoken, he possessed the qualities of a fine gentleman. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 65 years and of the American Legion Post #1290. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Carl is survived by his daughter, Rosemary Fuoco of Utica with whom he resided. He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, especially Richard and Laurie Sacco, Patrick and Victoria Sacco, Pamela Sacco, her son Gavin, and her fiancé Shaun LaPolla, Paul and Michelle Sacco, and Alyssa Sacco; and his in-laws, Julie and Angelo Sacco. He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank C. and Rose Emma; and his brothers-in-law, Victor Emma, and Dr. P.J. Emma. Carl’s daughter expresses her deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Saul Unit of the Katherine Luther Residential Health Care Center for the compassion and care shown to her Dad. Carl’s family honored his life in a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Tom Honald with military honors conferred. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. in lieu of flowers; envelopes will be available at the service. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
