Camille M. (Fennell) Cavallo

Mrs. Camille M. (Fennell) Cavallo, age 89, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2006, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her family by her side. Born in Utica on December 27, 1916, Camille was the daughter of the late Frank and Teresa (Elefante) Fennell. She was raised in the home of her Aunt Cora and Uncle Louis Adrean. On September 22, 1938 she married Thomas J. Cavallo, Sr. with whom she shared 49 years until his passing on January 21, 1988. Camille devoted herself to the care of her family and her home. Her children and her extended family were her greatest joy and foremost priority in life. She provided them with her unconditional love, her wisdom, her guidance, and her intensely held values and beliefs. Throughout her life she inspired cherished memories of the special times at the family homestead on Webster Ave. As a woman of excellent taste, Camille loved and appreciated the finer things in life and took exceptional pride in her appearance and in her home. She enjoyed cooking, decorating and antique-hunting, as well as the arts and cultural events. She was also an avid reader and amazingly knowledgeable of the world. For many years Camille shared friendship and good times with "the club girls," Philomena Zangrilli, Jane Talerico, Sally Petrillo, Ellie Whitman, and Marie Chambrone, all of whom meant so much to her. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Guild, the Catholic Women's Club and a devout communicant of St. Agnes Church. Mrs. Cavallo was a dedicated mother to three daughters and sons-in-law who survive her, Adrienne and Daniel Mettais of New Hartford, Laurene and Paul Hansen of CA, and Debbie and David Grosjean of Clifton Park, NY; and a son, Thomas Jr. of Sauquoit, and his late wife, Terry, who passed away in 2005. In addition, her survivors include her grandchildren, Laurie (Mettais) and Thomas Jarrard, Jeffrey and Miho Mettais, Susan (Mettais) and Doug Edick, Michelle (Hansen) and Jeff Boccocchio, Melanie (Hansen) and Cory Swint, Noelle (Cavallo) and Russell Nattress, Jaime Cavallo and her fianc, Michael Volz, Sarin Cavallo and her special friend, Jeff Glod, Lyndsey Grosjean, Ryan Grosjean, and David Grosjean, Jr. and his special friend, Brittany Lawrence. She is also survived by her beloved great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Brittany, and Courtney Jarrard, Mia and Sean Mettais, Amanda and Daniel Joseph "DJ" Edick, and Cole Swint. Also surviving are her sisters, Suzanne Sbarra whom she loved not only as a sister but also as a best friend, and Lorriane Rubino; and a sister-in-law, Dorothea Adrean. Her extended family includes many loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Camille was predeceased by her brother, Thomas L. Adrean, Sr.; her brothers-in-law, Nicholas Rubino and Nicholas J. Sbarra; her great-granddaughter, Alexandra (Hansen) Swint; and her in-laws, Joseph and Helen Cavallo, Frances and Anthony Martello, Jennie and Thomas N. Bonacci, and Carmella and Nicholas Frattasio. The entire family extends its most sincere appreciation to Dr. Fred Talarico and to the staff of the 3rd floor at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, especially Ethel, for their compassionate care and their respect for Camille's dignity. Their support was most helpful to Camille and her family. Thanks also to the many wonderful aides at the Heritage Health Care Center. Visitation will be held today (Sunday) from 2-5 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Camille's honor to St. Agnes Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mrs. Cavallo's funeral will commence on Monday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
