Camille A. (Fanelli) LaFluer

Mrs. Camille A. (Fanelli) LaFluer, age 66, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the love and support of her family. Born in Canastota, New York on December 26, 1942, Camille was the daughter of the late Anthony and Antoinette (Giglio) Fanelli. Raised and educated locally, she was a 1960 graduate of T. R. Proctor High School. On April 15, 1967 in St. Agnes Church, she married William “Bill” LaFluer with whom she shared 41 years in a loving and devoted union as true companions and friends. Camille worked at the General Electric Company in the Radio Receiver department on Broad St. until the plant closed. She subsequently served as a crossing guard at the Albany St. School, a position she held until 1994. Camille was caring and devoted to her family, always placing the needs of her loved ones before her own. Her grandchildren were an inspiration to her during her illness, and they brought much joy and happiness to her life. A very energetic and social person, she was an avid bowler and was involved in the Sunday night leagues at Vista Lanes. Among her other leisure pursuits, she enjoyed playing pinochle and solving crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge for more than 20 years, and a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Camille is survived by her husband, William “Bill”; her daughters and sons-in-law, Rene and Edward Wright of Cold Brook, and Lisa and Damon Lewis of Utica; and her grandchildren, Vincent Turturo, Anthony Turturo, Megan Wright, Edward William Wright, and Andrea Maltais. Survivors also include her sisters, Joan Mancuso, and Shirley A. Mario; and her brother, Anthony Fanelli, all of Utica; many nieces, (especially Karen Burton), nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Philip and Priscilla LaFluer, Edward Sr. and Rosanne Wright, and Robert and June Lewis. She also leaves her friends, Dick and Maryann Phillips, and her special friends at the Charles T. Sitrin Adult Day Care Center. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Robert P. “Bob” Mario. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Room; the staff of the Saratoga Unit at the Masonic Care Community of NY, especially Dr. Wilcox, Nancy, Bonnie, Shirley, Lisa and Mike; and the U.S. Materials Handling Corporation, for their compassion and concern. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St. corner of Hammond Ave. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Camille's honor to the Masonic Care Community of NY; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Camille's funeral service will commence on Wednesday morning at 8:30 from the funeral home and at 9:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
