Brittany Noel Holliman

CHARLOTTE, NC – Brittany Noel Holliman, age 32, was called home on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 and is now at peace with the Lord. Born in Utica on December 17, 1988, Brittany was the daughter of Darrell Holliman and Debra (Curry) Perez. During her formative years, she resided with her loving mother and attended school in Charlotte where she was noted by her teachers as a gifted student. She then relocated to Utica to her father’s care and graduated from T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 2006, completing her studies a year earlier than her classmates. Brittany was proud to work in Customer Service positions because she found satisfaction in assisting people with their concerns and connecting with their needs. Blessed with a bright, keen mind, she had the gift of gab, and although she was very social, she was serious about keeping up on her studies and being timely with her assignments. Yet, sometimes it was difficult to live up to her own standards. She had a high level of energy and a great sense of humor. Brittany had a contagious laugh that was so memorable. She loved openly and honestly and she was family oriented. Her parents supported her decisions and visions for her future, and she knew she was loved. She was very insightful and listened to her better angels in believing that people, for the most part, were all good. A creative soul, Brittany loved to convey her thoughts in journals, poetry, sketching, and drawing. She loved her mom and always complimented her and her cooking. She appreciated the meals that she fussed over for Brittany to make her feel special, and she was never afraid to try any new culinary foods. In her quest for seeing new horizons, the U.S.A. was her playground, and she loved to travel. But above all else, having children was her greatest blessing, and she always wanted them to be safe. She knew heaven’s angels, and she loved the Lord. She often read contemporary interpretations of Holy Scripture that were renewing and inspirational. Brittany is survived by her mom, Debra and her husband Norman Perez who was a great support to Brittany; her dad, Darrell Holliman; her children, Samaria, Esmaeya, Darius, and Novalee; maternal grandparents, Louise (Thomas) Cobb and husband Frank; and Joe Curry; and her siblings, Twyla “Big Honey” and Arthur Newton, Akiera “FeFe” Walker, Kagney Curry, Darrell Holliman, Phillip Perez, Endra Holliman, and Xavier Holliman. She will remain in the hearts of her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, especially Jasmine Curry who grew up together and were raised like sisters; and her caring aunts, Sherondia Morgan who always had a special connection with Brittany and kept her in her heart and prayers, and Shawn Anderson, and Anissa Bell who always had her back. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Endra Bell and Will Walker; paternal great-grandparents, Herbert and Bennie Holliman; maternal great-grandparents, Charlie and Coddie Thomas; maternal great-grandpa, Isiah E. Conway; and her cousin, Mia Gabrielle Curry ~ “they are together now”. The family is grateful to relatives and friends for showing their love, support, prayers, and concern. From the time we were kids, we were each other’s protector and confidant. We were each other’s first best friend. I’m going to cherish all our memories: like your laugh that I always compared to a hyena, your hidden talent of being able to burp out full sentences, the silly arguments we would have about you always wearing my clothes without asking or me reading your diary and jokingly quoting lines from it (“I tried and I tried” LOL), me making fun of the ridiculously weird crush you had on Tom Hanks, our inside jokes and the countless pranks we played on each other, us doing that 30 minute walk to school cause we didn’t want to tell mommy we missed the school bus, or even us stealing cassettes tapes out of mommy’s room so we can record our favorite 90s R&B songs and play them at night while we fell asleep. We shared a room from the time we were babies until we left the nest. And while it was challenging at times, we created one heck of a bond. When you grieve you ask a lot of questions, one of my first questions was if I was a good big sister to you. But then I thought about the number of times you would tell me how proud of me you were. My heart is shattered, but I can take a little bit of comfort knowing that your heart is at peace. So rest my baby sister turned angel, the Lord is going to take good care of you.
