Beverly Jane (Rutherford) Irving

Mrs. Beverly Jane (Rutherford) Irving, age 86, of Utica, currently a resident of St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, went peacefully to rest on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her loving family at her side. Born in Madrid, NY on December 26, 1922, Beverly was the daughter of the late DeWitt and Christine (Morris) Rutherford. She was raised and educated in Madrid. She was married to Robert Irving who passed away in 1956. Beverly worked on the family farm, relocating to Newport upon her husband’s passing. She later accepted a job with the General Electric Company on Bleecker Street where she was a longtime employee. She most recently retired from the Farrington Manufacturing Company due to illness. During her many years in the workforce, she upheld a good work ethic. Beverly was a selfless parent and she instilled her values in her children and grandchildren. Always available for her loved ones, she taught them to be adventurous, generous, and dependable. Her needs were simplistic, and she loved country music. She treasured the memories of her family trips to Germany and Scotland. Beverly is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Madaras of Bridgewater, Lois and Ray Walker of Utica, and Beverly and Peter Burns of Holland Patent; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her sister, Noreen Seaman of Great Bend, NY; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Barbara Rutherford, and Howard and Elsie Rutherford, all of Lisbon, NY; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She also leaves her canine companion, Susie. She was reunited with her great-granddaughter, Alesia Ann Bona, who passed away on June 26, 2009. She was predeceased by her sister, Doris Williamson; and her nephew, Tom Williamson, both of Virginia. The family would like to thank the staff of the St. Joseph Nursing Home for the care and kindness given to Beverly in her time of need. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12-1 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Beverly’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence at 1:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation. A graveside service will follow with interment in Frankfort Hill Cemetery.
