Beverly J. (Roberts) Cushman

Beverly J. (Roberts) Cushman, age 73, currently of Clinton and formerly of New Hartford, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on April 22, 1939, Beverly was the daughter of the late Edris and Mabel (Rightmyer) Roberts. She attended school locally, graduating from Utica Free Academy’s Class of 1957. Beverly was employed as a receptionist at St. Luke’s in the X-Ray Department. She also worked at Rome City Hospital in the Pharmacy and X-Ray Department for nine years until retiring in 1991. But it was her career as caretaker of her family that won her heart. She was a wonderful listener, fair and patient. She loved the company of her children and grandchildren, as they were the most important part of her life. During her spare time, she enjoyed camping with her family and sitting on the back porch watching the birds. She was very content with life’s simple pleasures. Characterized by a competitive spirit, she also was fond of Bingo, Yahtzee, and card games. She was a member of the Stittville Fire Company Ladies’ Auxiliary. As a follower of the Catholic faith, Beverly volunteered her time as a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) Teacher at St. Leo’s Church in Holland Patent. Beverly is survived by her daughters, Lisa Cushman and Lois Cushman, both of Clinton; her sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Miok Cushman of Floyd, NY, Ronald, Jr. and Angela Cushman of Whitesboro, and Richard and Charleen Cushman of Stittville; her grandchildren, Shelly Cushman, Tiffany and Brandon Galloway, and Dustin Schellerer; and her great-grandchildren, Keegan, Derek, and Alexis. She also leaves her sister, Barbara Schultz of Rome, NY; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law Evelyn Roberts of New Hartford. She was predeceased by her brother, Vern Roberts by a matter of days; and her special friend, Mary Magraw. The family is grateful to the staff of the St. Luke’s Home/Clark North Unit, for the compassionate care they provided to Beverly during her stay. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00-8:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to the Frankfort Hill Fire Department in lieu of floral offerings; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Beverly’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday evening at 8:00 at the conclusion of visitation with Sister Betty Giarrusso, CSJ officiating the ceremony.
