Mrs. Beverly A. "Bev" (Beratta) Clemente

N. UTICA – Mrs. Beverly A. “Bev” (Beratta) Clemente, age 85, was reunited with her daughter, Patti, when she passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Born in Utica on October 10, 1939, Beverly was the daughter of the late Carmen and Mary R. (Sciortino) Beratta. She attended St. Mary of Mt. Carmel School and went on to graduate from T.R. Proctor High School. On May 6, 1961, Beverly married her high school sweetheart, Pasquale “Pat” Clemente. The couple shared a blessed union of over 63 years. Beverly began her career in banking at the Savings Bank of Utica as a teller. She then worked for Homestead Bank, and later went on to GPO Federal Credit Union where she aspired to the position of Assistant to the Vice President, the position from which she retired. She loved going out to eat, was a talented cook and baker, and her holiday cookies were a must. Bev had a true love for her canine companions and there was always a family dog in the house. She was especially passionate about her newest puppy, Bella. She was meticulous and took pride in her dress and appearance. In her younger years, she enjoyed family vacations to the East Coast where she made cherished memories traveling to Pittsburgh to see her daughter and grandchildren and attend the Fort Ligonier Days with them. Bev grew up in a close-knit family who instilled values in her that she carried onto her own family. She was a straight shooter who was known for her direct and loving nature ~ she was “a mighty half pint.” Beverly loved her family and desired only to take care of them. She was a pillar of strength, with a beautiful laugh and smile that brightened every room she entered. Beverly had a strong faith and attended St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Beverly is survived by her loving husband, Pat; and beloved son, Brendan Clemente. She treasured the memory of her daughter, Patricia A. “Patti” Prior, who passed away on September 20, 2022. She also leaves her son-in-law, Pastor George Prior; grandchildren, Kacie M. Prior, and Connor M. Prior; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey and Erin Villeneuve, and Krista and Greg Novotarski; great-nieces, great nephews; cousins, Jackie Faga (the late Ralph Faga), Marion and Frank Gerace, Jean Tripp, Marion Goodwin, and Joseph and Gina Sciortino; goddaughter, Karlene Cimo, who Bev loved as a daughter, and her brother, Joseph “Joey” Maltese. She was predeceased by her life-long best friends and neighbors, Sandy and Joseph Maltese; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph J. and Mary A. (Calabrese) Clemente, sister-in-law, Pamela A. “Pam” Villeneuve; and cousin, Marilyn Bohn. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the 5th floor staff and team of physicians of the West Wing at Wynn Hospital for their compassionate care. The family will honor and commemorate her life at a private time. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Beverly's Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will commence on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony and St Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
