Bertha (Kasouf) Haddad

Mrs. Bertha (Kasouf) Haddad, age 89, of North Utica, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Syracuse on August 18, 1922, Bertha was the daughter of the late Chickory and Eva (Tebsherany) Kasouf. She was raised and educated in Syracuse where she attended high school and Syracuse University. On November 12, 1950 she was united in marriage with George C. Haddad who passed away on September 3, 2009. During their 58-year union, the two enjoyed a loving and dedicated relationship. During her working days, Bertha was employed by the St. Elizabeth Hospital in the Medical Records Department and later took a position at St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital as a Medical Records Coder. Bertha was blessed with an outgoing personality and a sharp sense of humor. Her primary concern and source of happiness was her family. She enjoyed dining out for lunch or dinner on occasion. She was a member of the Syrla-bana Club, and the Antiochian Women’s Club. She was a parishioner of St. George’s Antiochian Orthodox Church. Bertha is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles G. and Theresa A. “Terrie” Haddad; and her granddaughter, Sarah E. Haddad, all of North Utica. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, Vera Kasouf of Syracuse, and Gloria Kasouf of FL; and her many dear and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Eva Kasouf, Herbie and Helen Kasouf, Roger Kasouf, and George Kasouf; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Nicholas Kalaf, Agnes and William Albert, and Marian Kasouf; and her in-laws, Freida H. and Edward L. Marron, Rose Haddad Tahan and her husband, James A. Tahan, and Anna Haddad. The family is thankful to the Utica Rescue 3 Ambulance Service, the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center Emergency Department, and 6th Floor staff for their care and compassion; and Dr. Celeste Hunsiker, for her professional attention. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 at St. George’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, 350 Higby Rd., New Hartford. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to St. George's Antiochian Orthodox Church; envelopes will be available at the service. Bertha’s funeral service will commence on Tuesday morning at 11:00 at St. Georges Antiochian Orthodox Church, offered by Rev. James Guirguis. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
