Bernadette A. "Bernie" Mucitelli

Bernadette A. “Bernie” Mucitelli, age 61, of Utica, went home to the Lord and rejoined her parents when she passed away on her mother’s birthday, Friday, January 1, 2016. Her passing occurred at the Siegenthaler Center with her sister by her side. Born in Utica on December 1, 1954, Bernadette was the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Rose (Guerriero) Mucitelli. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. During her working career, Bernie held positions at the Oneida National Bank, the state of New York, and lastly Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center. Determined to follow her own course in life, Bernie was spontaneous, spirited, straight-forward, and independent. She chose her friends wisely, cherished them, and kept them close to her heart. Sharing their company and conversation brought her satisfaction and joy; her fast and witty responses brought laughter and light-hearted pleasure to all. But above all else, Bernie’s best blessing was the loving relationship she shared with her son, Anthony. She prayed and believed in God and practiced her Catholic faith at Historic Old St. John’s Church. Bernie is survived by her son, Anthony John Mucitelli, known to many as Tone; and her sisters, Angela Bertini of Clinton who cared for Bernie in her home until the end of her journey; Dr. Diane Mucitelli of OH, and Judy Mucitelli of Utica. She will also remain in the hearts of her nephews and nieces, Michael and Robin Bertini, Jason Bertini and Sean Orcutt, Eric and Jennifer Bertini, Mark and Melisa Bertini; great-nieces and a great-nephew, Kaylee, and Preston; Mariella, and Marlee; and cousins. Bernie was also blessed with many wonderful and close friends throughout her life with special mention of Rene Johnson, Rose Bucciero, and Pinky DeSimmone. The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. for their outstanding care, compassion, and concern. Bernie loved each of her nephews with an open heart, sharing a unique closeness with Jason, for they were kindred spirits, and he appreciated their special bond. Bernadette’s family will honor and commemorate her life at a private time. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bernadette’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday at 12:30 at Historic Old St. John’s Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. John Buehler and concelebrant Rev. Abe Esper. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Entombment will take place in Calvary Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
