Benny F. LaParne

Mr. Benny F. LaParne, age 80, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 10, 2014 in the privacy of his home. Born in Utica on December 16, 1933, Benny was the son of the late Dominick and Nancy (Paniccia) LaParne. Raised and educated locally, he attended TR Proctor High School. A proud veteran, Benny honorably served his country in the United States Air Force stationed in Korea. After his military tour of duty, he gained employment at Griffiss Air Force Base in the Packaging & Shipping Department. More recently, he worked as a construction laborer for Local #442, the position from which he retired. At one time, Benny was married to the former Stella Swernick, to that relationship came the blessings of their two sons. A hard-working and sacrificing father, Benny did his best to instill in his sons the advantages of acquiring a good education and embracing an ethical lifestyle. He hoped that they would take the initiative to become self-reliant, motivated men who would provide for their future and prosper a little more than their dad’s generation. By nature, Benny had a very charismatic and outgoing personality. He was blessed with the art of conversation and brimmed with joy being in the company of people. He was masterful at barbequing, and was an amateur photographer. Benny was a Volunteer Firefighter with the Sylvan Beach Fire Department. Benny is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin R. LaParne and his wife Kimberly M. Kubista-LaParne of Clearfield, PA, and Dominick F. and Kathleen LaParne of Syracuse; his grandchildren, Elliott, and Christian LaParne; Anna, and Katherine LaParne; and his sister, Josephine A. Gacek of Sauquoit. His extended family includes his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Edward Gacek. Visitation will be held on Wednesday (tomorrow) from 10:30-12:00 noon at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Benny's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence immediately upon the conclusion of visitation at 12:00 from the funeral home and at 1:00 at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski with Military Honors conferred. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
