Awilda (Lozada) Sanchez

Mrs. Awilda (Lozada) Sanchez, age 51, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014, at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico on January 26, 1963, Awilda was the daughter of the late Presbitero and Glady (Feliciano) Sanchez. Raised and educated in Puerto Rico, Awilda relocated to Utica in 1991. On September 10, 1979 she married Jorge D. Lozada with whom she shared 21 years prior to his passing on November 3, 2000. Awilda had a loving heart. For her children, she took on the role of parenthood with pride. She was a mother, father, and “best friend” to them. She had a great sense of humor, and was also a true companion and confidante to many, especially her sister, Maria. Awilda enjoyed taking rides, walking in the park, watching her favorite television program, Sabado Gigante, and listening to Christian music. She was a member of the Iglesia De Cristo Misionera. Awilda is survived by her daughter, Gladimar Lozada and fiancé Robert Gonzalez of Utica; her sons and daughter-in-law, Emmanuel and Georgia Lozada, Jorge A. Lozada, all of Utica, and Jorge L. Lozada of Marcy; and her grandchildren, Jerry, Yarelyn, and Alyna; Louis, Jamilet; Alexander, Gianna, Ethan, Faith, and Jordan. She will also be missed by her sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Antonio Corchado; and her brother, Carlos B. Sanchez, all of Utica; many nieces and nephews, including Antonio Corchado, Jr., Yesenia and Juan L. Rivera, Yahaira, Veronica, Javier, and Gabriel Sanchez; Omar Sanchez, and Tonya Sanchez; her great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; her in-laws, Lillian Lozada, Zenaida Lozada, and Javier and Sharon Lozada; her mother-in-law, Maria L. Lozada; and her step-mother, Antonia Rodriguez Heredia. She was predeceased by her brother, Presbitero Sanchez, Jr.; her nephew, Jean Carlos Vargas; and her father-in-law, Teodoro Lozada. Visitation will be held Saturday from 3:00-4:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Awilda’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Pastor Oscar Dones officiating the ceremony. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
