Arlene A. (Dress) Williams

Mrs. Arlene A. (Dress) Williams, age 84, a native of Schenectady, NY, and a longtime resident of Balston Spa, NY, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Schenectady on March 26, 1922, Arlene was the daughter of the late William and Rita (McGraw) Dress. She was raised and educated in Schenectady. In 1945, she was married to Joseph J. Williams. They shared a devotion throughout their 53 years of marriage until his passing in October of 1998. For over 30 years, Arlene was employed as an operator for the N.Y. Telephone Co., later known as AT&T. As a retired employee of AT&T, she was a member of the Pioneer Club. Admired for her subtle, but sharp sense of humor, she was a wise and warm-hearted woman. Arlene nurtured a lifelong love and passion for reading, and enjoyed traveling and camping, especially with her husband. She was always involved and supportive of her husband’s love of breeding and showing of his collies. She was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Williams is survived by her daughter, Kathleen D. Gleason of Guilderland, NY; and her sons and their families, Keith M. Williams and Kathy Weingartner of Oriskany Falls, Kevin J. and Linda L. Williams of Ballston Spa, and Kyle G. Williams and Melissa B. Hotmer of Ballston Spa. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kevin J. II and Suzanne M. Williams of Virginia, Kelly L. Williams of Ballston Spa, and Kristin M. Williams of Charlton, NY; and her great-grandchild, Meridian Chamberlin Williams of Virginia. In addition, she leaves her brother and sister-in-law, William J. and Alberta Dress of Johnstown, NY; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; her sister-in-law, Irene Dress; and her longtime friend, Hazel Fox. She was predeceased by her brother, George Dress. The family offers its heartfelt thanks to the Harding Nursing Home of Waterville for the outstanding care shared with Arlene and her family. In keeping with Arlene’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Arlene’s honor to the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville. Her Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
