Apollo Gabriel Adams

UTICA - Apollo Gabriel Adams, became an angel when he passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at MVHS at St. Elizabeth Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Apollo was the son of Ernest M. Adams Jr. and Joy D. Morreale. He was born in New Hartford on August 12, 2013. Apollo was an amazing little boy and a force to be reckoned with. Although he was very strong, he was equally soft-hearted, and he earned the nickname “Sweet Boy”. He was a little boy who defied all the odds. He could recognize voices when he was logged into FaceTime an when he talked on the phone. He had his own language, and everyone understood him. He loved sweets especially ring pops. Apollo loved all kinds of music especially Hip Hop, Rap, and all genres including Motown. At nighttime he listened to classical and Sounds of Nature. When his sister Savannah rapped, he lifted his head and moved with the music. His mom knew how special he was even in the womb. He was peaceful and he gave peace. He made caring for him easy—he was a happy baby. Apollo was of the Christian faith and was baptized at Crouse Hospital accompanied by his godparents, Jacquedda and Omar Valadez who are also his auntie and uncle, as well as his godmothers who were so supportive: Michelle Randazzo, Pamela Leonard, and Jackee Chee-Ming who was always available and supportive. Apollo is survived by his mom and dad, Joy D. Morreale and Ernest Adams, Jr.; his sister Savannah who was also his best friend; his maternal grandfather Charles Morreale; and his grandmother Tawanda Stanley; his paternal grandparents, Ernest “Moe” and Sharon Adams; his aunties and uncles, Jacquedda and Omar Valadez, Michael “Chuck” Carter, Kimberly Mathis, Christine Mathis, Audreanna Spencer, Julian Spencer, Akoya, Donnell, Lacharie and Deon Adams; a host of great-aunts and great-uncles; and his beloved cousins. His maternal grandmother, Toney, and his great-grandma AnnieMae greeted Apollo upon his ascension to heaven. The family is grateful to all the physicians, specialists, nurses and caregivers who worked with Apollo. A special thank you goes to Shaneka Moore who stayed loyal in Apollo’s care, was part of the team from the beginning, and went from being their Certified Nursing Assistant to a friend; Denise Burkle, his cousin Javon Patterson, John Dawson, Jared Holmes, and Jelesa Linder — they were all wonderful, compassionate, and were beloved by the family. Thank you to our family, the Patterson’s for your constant love and support; uncles Oscar, Dan, And Booker Patterson and aunts Elizabeth Moyer, Pat and Cynthia Patterson and our many cousins, nieces and nephews. We love and appreciate you. We know how much you love Apollo and us. He will be greatly missed. The family will honor and commemorate Apollo’s life at a private time.
