Antonio "Tony" Luce

Mr. Antonio “Tony” Luce, age 83, left this world unexpectedly on Monday, December 29, 2014 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. Born on February 9, 1931 in the Province of Bari in eastern Italy, Antonio was the son of the late Rafaele and Maria (Ninni) Luce. He was raised and educated in Italy and was also proud to have served in the Italian Army. On December 28, 1959 he married the former Carmela Panetti with whom he shared more than 55 loving years blessed with a beautiful family life. Following their marriage, the couple relocated to America and settled in Utica. For over 25 years, Tony held employment with Utica Boilers, the position from which he retired. Tony dedicated his life to his children and their many successes. He was a loving soul and he touched the hearts of all who knew him. His home was a happy place filled with family and friends. He loved gardening, crafting homemade wine, and picking tomatoes and canning homemade sauce. Tony is survived by his wife, Carmela; his daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Richard Wolak of Vernon, and Grace A. and Louis Ficchi, Jr. of Holland Patent; his sons, Ralph A. Luce and fiancée Jodi Chudy of Floyd, NY, and Salvatore A. Luce of Marcy; and his grandchildren, Edward A. Wolak, and Lea M. Wolak; Janelle M. Ficchi and Nick L. Ficchi; and Santina M. Luce. He will also be missed by his brother and sister-in-law, Panuccio and Rosa Luce of Italy; his sister-in-law, Damiana Panetti with whom he shared a special closeness; many nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging his nieces Grace Panetti, Angela and John Throne, and Cosimina Panetti; and his many devoted friends. He was predeceased by his four brothers, two sisters and his brother-in-law Joseph Panetti. The family is grateful to Rev. Joseph Salerno and Deacon Bill Hotaling for the spiritual guidance they provided. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Antonio’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 from the funeral home and at 2:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
