Antoinette M. (Russo) Rizzo

Mrs. Antoinette M. (Russo) Rizzo, age 94, formerly of Utica, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2007 in Vacaville, California with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on October 18, 1912, Antoinette was the daughter of the late Adolf R. and Carmella (Peters) Russo. She was raised and educated locally. On September 21, 1940 she married Anthony J. Rizzo with whom she shared 48 years until his passing on December 5, 1988. During her wage earning years, Antoinette was employed by the Oneita Knitting Mills as an assembly worker. She later worked as an assembler at General Electric on Broad St. until the closing of the plant. She was a family oriented, devoted, and loving woman, with an excellent sense of humor and a quick wit. She loved to travel with her husband, and in her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and playing a good game of cards. Sociable and spirited, she was a member of the Forever Young Club. She was very devoted to her Catholic beliefs and was a communicant of Historic Old St. John’s Church. Antoinette is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Andrew Reiner of Dixon, CA; her grandson, Anthony Pisano of Utica; and her great-grandchildren, Anthony, Christopher, Marisa, and Abigail. Also surviving is her sister, Theresa Ciacciarelli of Syracuse; her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law, Helen Russo of VA. She was predeceased by her brothers, Chester Russo, and Rocco A. Russo, Sr.; and her sisters, Rose Lisandrelli, and Anna Colucci. In keeping with Antoinette’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Tuesday morning September 25th at 10:30 at Historic Old St. John’s Church. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Antoinette’s honor to the American Heart Association; envelopes will be available at the service. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
