Antoinette J. (Plescia) Pleeter

Mrs. Antoinette J. (Plescia) Pleeter, age 84, of New Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her family by her side. Born in Utica on June 3, 1923, Antoinette was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Marta (Bagnardi) Plescia. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On August 17, 1957 she married Lester Pleeter, with whom she shared 44 years until his passing on March 15, 2002. Throughout their marriage, they upheld a great admiration for each other. Lester was a master craftsman and always maintained his steadfast work ethic. Antoinette began her working career as a secretary at Utica Radiator, retiring as a manager of the ordering department. She then became an associate of Pleeter Sheet Metal, in an entrepreneurial endeavor with her late husband. She assumed the office and managerial responsibilities of the company. At one time, she was an active member of the local chapter of the National Secretary Association and Young at Heart Senior Group. The center of her life was her family and her home. Charitable and non-confrontational, Antoinette lived by the philosophy “Peace at any price”. She was of the Catholic faith and worshipped at St. Anthony of Padua Church and St. John the Evangelist in New Hartford. Antoinette is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce J. and Sharon Pleeter of Frankfort, NY; her daughter and son-in-law, Marta A. and Michael Zarnoch of New Hartford; and her grandchildren, Brent Pleeter, Shaina Pleeter, and Keith Zarnoch. Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Otto and Anne Plescia of FL; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, including Michelle “Nina” Schultz, Dr. Marc Plescia, Lisa Wilsey, Michael Plescia, Barry Lipsy, Alan Lipsy, her in-laws, Ann Plescia of NJ, Estelle and Clement Lipsy of Dewitt, NY; her devoted life long friend, Eileen Taurisano; her friends, Rubin Namiad, Eleanor Curri, Dorothy Schram, Francine Spinelli, the Schultz family, Cork & Patty Roberts, Jean Potempa, and Gary Rubnich of AZ, a one of a kind friend who, along with her late husband, were two of the most talented men she knew. She was predeceased by her sister, Emerina Plescia; and her brother, Archie Plescia. A special thank you to Marta, who was so dedicated and devoted to her mother as she cared for her and catered to her needs. Also a special thank you to her son Bruce, who has also been a constant inspiration to his mother during her illness. The dedication of Dr. Jawad Shaikh and the concern shown by the 4th floor nursing staff of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center was sincerely appreciated. They were truly angels. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Antoinette’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Friday at 12:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. By family request please omit floral offerings.
