Antoinette M. "Toni" Azzarito

CLINTON - Antoinette M. "Toni" Azzarito, age 82, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 with her loving family at her side. Born in Utica on September 7, 1940, Antoinette was the daughter of the late Louis A. "Louie" and Marie R. (DeSarro) Azzarito. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1958. For many years Toni worked as a bookkeeper for United Auto Sales. More recently she was employed as a cashier at the Midstate Correctional Facility in Marcy, the position from which she retired in 2002 after 18 years of loyal service. At one time she had been married to Michael J. Calenzo, and to that relationship came the blessing of 4 cherished daughters. Gifted with great strength of character and unshakable determination, Toni was a true survivor, one who overcame every obstacle and difficulty that arose in her path and who found happiness in the everyday events that life provided her. She was a best friend to each of her daughters. They have fond memories of road trips, baking, and her ability to make holidays special, and those traditions will be carried on in the lives of her daughters. The blessings of her grandchildren were an additional and meaningful part of her life, and those relationships have been so very gratifying to her. Toni practiced her Catholic faith as a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Toni is survived by four daughters and their loves, Regina (Calenzo) and Steve Currie, Maria Calenzo and John Garramone, Annette (Calenzo) Agness and Jim Ring, and Michele Calenzo; her beloved and cherished grandchildren, Joshua and Ashley Foster, and Eric and Ivy Foster; Jessica Calenzo and fiancé Alex Monteith; Brian Agness and his wife Katie Contino, and AnnMarie Agness; and Megan, and Matthew Gromo; and four great-grandchildren, Elijah Abbott, Izayah, Ivalyss, and Hannah Foster. She also leaves memories to her brothers and sister-in-law, Peter Azzarito, Louis Azzarito, Jr., Robert Azzarito, and Michael and Robin Azzarito; her nieces and nephews, John and Kim Azzarito, David and Caroline Azzarito, Paula and Craig Aseltyne, Alexandra Azzarito, Steven, and Tiffany Azzarito; several great-nieces, great-nephews, and a number of cousins. She was predeceased by her niece, Kim (Azzarito) Redmon; nephew, Andrew Azzarito; and her sister-in-law, Jennifer Azzarito. Her family felt much gratitude for the opportunity to care for Toni’s every need. Her family honored her life at a private time. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Antoinette's funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday, April 21st, 2023 at 10:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, 648 Jay St., where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Per the wishes of the family, please omit floral offerings. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of Mass. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
