Anthony J. Ruggiero

Mr. Anthony J. Ruggiero, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Heritage Healthcare Center with the love and support of his family. Born in Port Chester, NY on June 25, 1931, Anthony was the son of the late Lucas and Filomena Ruggiero. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he honorably served his country in the Korean War, stateside. On September 15, 1956 Anthony married the former Elizabeth A. Constabile; they shared a mutually considerate and loving relationship throughout their 45 year union. His beloved Liz passed away on May 26, 2002. Anthony was employed as a machinist at the Bendix Corporation, and later worked as a custodian with the Utica City School District. During his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. At one time he attended St. Anthony of Padua Church. Anthony is survived by his daughter, Philomena R. Ruggiero of Utica; his son and daughter-in-law, Luca and Karen Ruggiero of Ilion; his grandchildren, Caitlin Ruggiero, and Abigail Ruggiero. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Joyce Ruggiero, Mary and Matt Militano, Marietta “Marty” Constabile, Marie Constabile, and Bonnie Constabile. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Ruggiero; his in-laws, John and Alice Constabile, Victoria and Frederick “Mac” McCullouch, as well as her first husband, Francis Caille, Josephine and Floyd Caouette, Ralph and Marie Constabile, infant Pasquelina Constabile, Anthony Constabile, Julius Constabile, Salvatore “Sam” and Ann Constabile, Frank “Hank” and Bertha Constabile; and his nephew, Ralph “R.J” Constabile, Jr. The family wishes to thank the 6th floor nurses and staff at the Heritage Health Care Center for their kind and encouraging ways in which they cared for Anthony. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Anthony’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday evening at 6:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Rev. Mark Kaminski officiating the ceremony. Committal services and Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
