Mr. Anthony L. "Tony" Moccaldi

Mr. Anthony L. “Tony” Moccaldi, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at his home. Born in Utica on July 25, 1936, Anthony was the son of the late James and Louise (Bottini) Moccaldi. He was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1954. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he honorably served his country stateside. On April 8, 1961 he married the former Anna V. Marino with whom he shared a sentimental and romantic love for 28 years until her passing on June 8, 1989. Tony worked in his vocation as an electronic technician as well as a diagnostic troubleshooter with the General Electric Company for 23 years. Subsequently, he was employed at Mohawk Limited where he enjoyed the versatility of this job until his retirement in 2005. The second happiest day of Tony’s life was May 18, 2002, the day he married the former Loretta (Spina) Leach. This affectionate union was a true blessing filled with respect, consideration, and loyalty for one another. Tony was a selfless and generous soul, and his children and grandchildren were a very vital part of his life, especially the little ones who touched his heart. He felt blessed for the opportunity to be a supportive father to his children from their youth to adulthood. He was also a devoted son who honored his mother with great admiration. Endowed with an exceptional sense of humor and a quick wit, he knew how to tease others provoking their laughter. Although he was slight in stature, Tony’s personality commanded respect. In his heart he had a fondness for animals and a fascination for magic. Conquering computer skills was enthralling for him and he was impressed with the technology of the future. Tony worked hard at maintaining a healthy lifestyle and he enjoyed time spent at local gyms prior to his health issues. Television was a great source of entertainment for Tony and his wife Loretta, especially comedy and talent shows. The couple also enjoyed playing cards together. A man of faith, Tony held a personal spirituality in his heart. Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta; his sons, Anthony A. Moccaldi and his fiancée Kathie Brindisi, and Ron R. Moccaldi and Rose Garcia; his daughter, Debra “Debbie” Olivadese and Scott Weaver. Always close to his heart was the memory of his son, Jimmy Moccaldi, who passed away on January 13, 2002. He will also be remembered by his grandchildren, Leandra Moccaldi; Anthony III and Elinor Moccaldi; Alyssa Sinker, Katie Sinker, and Vincent Olivadese; his great-grandchildren, Audrey, and Cayden; and his sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Louis Mastroianni of Whitesboro. His extended family includes his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, especially Luca Esposito with whom he shared a special closeness; his aunts, Antoinette Bottini, and Helen Gerdano; and his in-laws, Mary LaRocco, Rose Moccaldi, Clara Mastrangelo, Nicholas Risucci, James Monterose, and Lucy Marino. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Anthony Marino, Robert Moccaldi, John LaRocco, Dino Mastrangelo, Catherine Monterose, Jennie Risucci, and Sister Daniella Spina, OSF. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Danielle Brucker, Loretta’s cousin, who was so supportive to the family during Tony’s untimely passing. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-6 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave, as well as on Saturday morning from 10-11 at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave., Utica. By family request, please omit floral arrangements. Anthony’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 11:00 at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Mark Kaminski, with military honors conferred by the U.S. Air Force.
