Ann L. (Asfur) Robilotta

Mrs. Ann L. (Asfur) Robilotta, age 86, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Masonic Care Community of NY with the love and support of her family. Born in Utica on July 27, 1923, Ann was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ameena (Baker) Asfur. She was raised and educated in Utica where she attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and St. Francis DeSales High School. On October 19, 1948 she married Carmen J. Robilotta who passed away on February 21, 2000; together they shared more than 51 years of mutual commitment, as well as dedication to their family. Ann and Carmen were companions in life, and together, they always put family first. Ann began her working career at the Savage Arms Company, and subsequently took a position at the General Electric Company Radio Receiver Department as an assembler. Her final place of employment was at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center where she worked as a cafeteria supervisor until her retirement. A fastidious dresser, she was proud to have shopped at “Cramers” for elegant clothes while her husband, who was truly a good soul, patiently waited for her. She was a genuinely wonderful woman who loved to be in the company of family, especially when she prepared her outstanding traditional cooking in honor of her Syrian heritage. Her family fondly remembers her uplifting and encouraging advice and her super organizational skills. She was a loving baby sitter who shared fun and memorable times with her grandchildren, and she felt so fortunate to have married a wonderful man who assisted her in the journey of life. She shared with friends in the game of pinochle and truly enjoyed the years of travel with her late husband, Carmen. She was a communicant of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Ann is survived by her sons and their families, Joseph Robilotta and Phyliss of Long Island, and Samuel and Cheryl Robilotta of Utica; and her grandchildren, Sam Robilotta, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Melanie Robilotta and fiancé, Frederick “Ricky” Buck of Utica, Stephanie Robilotta, and Nicole Robilotta, both of Long Island. Survivors also include her sisters, Mary Asfur, and Helen Asfur, both of Utica; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Clara Robilotta of New Hartford, and John Papaleo of Utica. She was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Asfur; her sisters, Rose Asfur, and Sarah Centro; and her in-laws, Teresa Papaleo, Frank Robilotta, Sr., and Katherine “Katie” and Simon Elhage. The family is grateful to Dr. Guy Wilcox, the Erie Household of the Masonic Care Community of NY, and all the staff and caregivers for their personal commitment and compassion. They comforted Ann, as well as her family, during difficult days. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00-12:00 noon at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Ann’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Ann’s funeral service will commence on Tuesday afternoon at 12:00 from the funeral home and at 1:00 at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
