Anne A. (LaRocco) LaNeve

Mrs. Anne A. (LaRocco) LaNeve, age 90, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Mohawk Valley Health Systems at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with the love and support of her family. Born in New Hartford on June 2, 1923, Anne was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Pflieger) LaRocco. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1939. On May 4, 1946 she was united in the Sacrament of Marriage to George S. LaNeve, Sr. with whom she shared 52 years prior to his passing on May 22, 1998. Together they shared a relationship based on love and respect and were each other’s best friend. The matriarch of her family, Ann was devoted to all those who shared her life. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her heart and soul. She always had a beautiful smile and a twinkle in her eye! Her loved ones will always remember her saying “I love you” before she ended a conversation. She cooked and baked with love for family members who gathered around her table, and cherished the celebration of holidays especially her annual Christmas party and birthday parties. A faithful parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament, Ann was a committee member of many of the parish organizations including St. Anne Society, the Annual Festival, the Hope Appeal, the Parish Finance Committee, the School Guild and the CYO Advisory Board. Anne is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Thomas Chmielenski of Endicott, and Jeanine and Gary Surprenant of Whitesboro. She is also survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Richard J., Sr. and Mary Beth LaNeve of Clinton, and Michael LaNeve of Syracuse. Close to her heart was the memory of her children, Mary Anne LaNeve Devendorf and George S. LaNeve, Jr. who preceded her in death. She also leaves behind her son-in-law, Glenn Devendorf and his wife, Lynn of West Monroe; her grandchildren, Thomas Chmielenski, Thomas Devendorf, David and Kim Devendorf, Laurie & Randy Belcher, Richard J. Jr. and Kit LaNeve, Margaret & Mike Hammell, Christopher Surprenant, Nicholas Surprenant, and Christopher LaNeve; and her great-grandchildren, Kevin Close, Alexis Devendorf, Caroline Devendorf, and Connor Devendorf. She is survived by a special niece, Marie Robilotto and many other nieces. nephews and cousins. She also leaves dear friends Anna Mezzanini, Eleanor Leone, RoseMarie Chiffy, Marie Tantillo, and Alice Gerace. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward LaRocco, Charles R. and Carmelita LaRocco, James “Frank” and Jennie LaRocco, Joseph H. LaRocco, and John W. “Jack” and Gertrud LaRocco; her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia M. and Michael Robilotto; her nephew, Dominick J. Robilotto; her in-laws, Frances and Peter Callari, and Loretta and Michael Loicano; and her friends, Eleanor Scialdone, Lena Ollerenshaw, and Mike Mezzanini. The family expresses gratitude to Dr. Porus Dhabhar and the staff of the Charles T. Sitrin Rehabilitation Center, especially Dan, and Carissa; the nurses and staff of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Emergency Room, especially Max, and Nicole; and Jennifer of the Allen-Calder Unit, for the comprehensive and compassionate care rendered to Anne during her stays. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Those wishing to express an act of kindness may make a contribution to the St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish Memorial Fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Anne’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Monday morning at 11:00 from the funeral home and at 12:00 noon at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta. Committal services and Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
