Anna T. (Tanoury) Wereszynski

Mrs. Anna T. Wereszynski, age 87, of Whitesboro, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 26, 2008 in the comfort of her home. Born in Utica on April 20, 1921, Anna was the daughter of the late Joseph Antone and Nezera “Laura” (Harp) Tanoury. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School. On August 5, 1945 she married Zigmund P. “Ziggy” Wereszynski with whom she shared 52 years in a loving and devoted marriage prior to his passing on December 3, 1997. Anna was able to overcome many adversities in her life through the strength she derived from her family, which was the heart of her existence. She enjoyed the company of her loved ones, preparing many delicious homemade meals and spending memorable times with them. She was a communicant of St. Louis Gonzaga Church. Anna is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald F. and Lucille A. Wereszynski of N. Utica, and Gary M. and Nancy L. Wereszynski of Whitesboro; her grandchildren, Raechele and Jeff Pexton of Whitesboro, Karla and Andy Salvatore of Sauquoit, Ronnie Z. Wereszynski of N. Utica, Valerie and Adam Ellis of New Hartford, Gary M. II and Jennifer Wereszynski of Utica, and Joseph F. Wereszynski of Washington, D.C.; and her great-grandchildren, Adam Pexton; Jenna Salvatore, Kayla Salvatore; Allison Ellis, and Zachary Ellis. Always close to her heart was the memory of her great-grandson, Trevor Alexander “Bobby” Salvatore, who passed away on July 20, 2003. Survivors also include her sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Thomas Damiano of Utica; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her brothers, Louis Tanoury, and Anthony Tanoury; and her sisters, Gloria “Rosalie” Tanoury, Martha L. Custodero, and Sadie B. Tanoury. The family would like to thank and acknowledge Anna’s caregiver, Linda Pike, for her love, dedication, and special care. Visitation will be held Monday (today) from 6:00-8:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. The Prayer of Incense will be offered on Monday evening at the funeral home. Anna’s funeral service will commence on Tuesday morning at 8:00 from the funeral home and at 9:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, where the Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated by Father Bassam Saade, Pastor. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
