Anna M. (Montaldo) Iacovella

Mrs. Anna M. (Montaldo) Iacovella, age 88, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2007, at the St. Luke’s Home with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on October 29, 1918, Anna was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Virginia (Zollo) Montaldo. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On June 19, 1939 she married Anthony R. Iacovella with whom she shared a loving union of 57 years prior to his passing on December 20, 1996. As loving parents and exemplary teachers, they provided their daughters with a wonderful home life. A longtime employee of the New York State Department of Labor, Anna retired from her position as a supervisor after 25 years of conscientious service. In her working life, she was conscientious and appreciative of the accomplishments of her responsibilities. She was a member of the Civil Service Employees’ Association. Anna was blessed with great strength of character, and was disciplined and fair in her judgments. Independent by nature, she was accepting of all life’s situations. She possessed a great deal of knowledge and wisdom, and excelled in reading and mathematics. She enjoyed her affiliation with the East Side Senior Center, games of chance, and bingo. Her greatest gift in life was raising a family of whom she was so proud and who valued her views. She was a woman with a deep religious dedication, and her faith was the core of her existence. She prayed the rosary daily, and for many years was dedicated to her membership with the St. Anne Society, her devotion and pilgrimages to St. Joseph’s Oratory, Our Lady of the Cape, and St. Anne’s Shrine. She was a devoted communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Anna is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Maryann V. and Frank R. Collea of North Utica, and Virginia A. and Anthony Muccari of Middletown, NY; her grandchildren, Maria Collea of AZ, Lori Wrafter of Oneida, Frank A. .Muccari, Anthony J. Muccari, and Maria A. Muccari, all of Middletown; and her great-grandchildren, Jessica and Allison. Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, John A. and Ann Montaldo of Utica; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and her in-laws, Theresa Migliaccio, and Donna Migliaccio. She also valued her endearing and unique friendship with Kathy Corelli. She was predeceased by her in-laws and her longtime and best friend, Fannie Arcuri. The family extends gratitude to the outstanding and dedicated staff of the Clark West unit of the St. Luke’s Home for their amazing love and friendship; and Frank Muccari and his daughter Mary, who were so respectful in their visits and support. Visitation will be held Sunday (today) from 2-4 at the Eannace Funeral Home., Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mrs. Iacovella’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home upon conclusion of visitation with the Rev. Anthony P. LaFache officiating. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
