Mrs. Anna R. (Rosato) Melchiorre

Mrs. Anna R. (Rosato) Melchiorre, age 88, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her family by her side. Anna was born in Utica on December 23, 1922, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Angeline (LaNeve) Rosato. She also knew the love and guidance of her stepfather, John LaPolla. She was raised and educated locally, attending T.R Proctor High School. On November 7, 1942 she married Frank J. Melchiorre who passed away on January 4, 1994; they were always together throughout their 51 year union and were blessed with great happiness. Anna worked from her home as a seamstress for 64 years, making many friendships through her customers. During her life, she loved to be creative and make people happy. She skillfully used her artistic talents to fashion lovely gowns and apparel. She was a kind woman, always available for others, to help or just to talk. She shared a close relationship with the Melchiorre family, and they loved her as well. Anna was an active member of St. Agnes Church prior to its closing, volunteering her time at the annual festivals and parish activities. She was currently a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Anna is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Anna Mae Melchiorre of Danvers, MA, and Frances Elaine and Norm Ardo of Naples, FL; her grandchildren, Dana and Karen Malozzi of MA, Carlo Malozzi of TX, Michelle Malozzi of MA, Cori Anne and Marc St. Onge of MA, Brian and Suguar Ardo of Utica and Frank and Crystal Ardo of FL; and her great-grandchildren, Hailey Malozzi, Brandon St. Onge, Emma St. Onge, and Zachery Ardo. She also leaves her sister, Jeanette Scalzo of Utica; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Katherine Rosato of Dallas, TX, Anna Melchiorre of Utica, Lucy and Sid Segal of SC, Angela and Angelo Nole, and Peter T. Greco, all of Utica, Ann Melchiorre of CA, Nunzio Melchiorre, Rosemary Melchiorre and Jane Melchiorre, all of Utica. She was favored with dear friends, Nancy Simbari of Utica, and Tony Robertelli who taught her how to drive at the age of 71. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Rosato; and her in-laws, Faustine Melchiorre, Marie Greco, Joseph Melchiorre, Guy Melchiorre, Cosmo “Red” Melchiorre, Angelo Melchiorre, Jr., Alfred L. and Carolyn M. Melchiorre, Daniel Melchiorre, and Orrie Polacelli. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of the CTICU Unit at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center for their care and concern. The family will honor Anna’s life in a private gathering. In keeping with Anna’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service which will commence on Monday morning at 11:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Felix Colosimo. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
