Miss Anna LaPolla

Miss Anna LaPolla, age 99, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in New York Mills on March 28, 1913, Anna was the daughter of the late Antonio and Filomenia (Rainone) LaPolla. She was raised and educated locally. During her employment years, Anna worked as a seamstress at Sturdy Togs, Inc. a well-known clothing manufacturer on Catherine Street. A generous, loving soul, Anna was devoted to her family and friends and found time to help others, often utilizing her masterful sewing skills. At home, she enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and during her spare time, collecting miniature shoes, a hobby that enticed loved ones to expand upon by adding tiny treasures to her collection which she tastefully displayed in her home. She was also a fervent fan of the NY Yankees. She was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in N. Utica. Anna is survived by her sisters, Michelina Zizzi of N. Utica, and Gilda A. Donatelli of New Hartford; her brother, Cosmo LaPolla of N. Utica; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, godchildren, and friends. She was predeceased by her infant brother, Louis; her brothers, Sam LaPolla, and Stephen LaPolla; her nephew, Anthony Donatelli; and her in-laws, Vito Zizzi, Albert Donatelli, and Antoinette LaPolla. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Joseph Booth and staff, CareGivers, and Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. for all their care and compassion. A special thanks to Marilyn Catera and family. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00-12:00 noon at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Memorial contributions in her honor may be considered to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Anna’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday afternoon at 12:00 from the funeral home and at 1:00 at St. Peter’s Church in N. Utica where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno. Entombment will take place in Our Lady Queen of Hope Chapel Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery.
