Mrs. Ann (Lewis) Carcone

Mrs. Ann (Lewis) Carcone, age 90, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on October 12, 1920, Ann was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose (Laino) Lewis. She was a lifelong resident of Utica and attended local schools. On June 28, 1947 she married Anthony P. Carcone with whom she shared 63 years in a perfect union of mutual love and devotion; throughout their life together, they were never apart. Ann was employed by the Norstar Bank, retiring after 25 years of service. She exemplified goodness in her thoughts and actions and was loved by everyone she had the pleasure to meet. Her compassionate, giving, kind, gentle, even-tempered, and soft-spoken nature was hard to resist. Ann thought of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as the center of her life and the heart of her happiness. In her earlier years, she loved to dance with her husband, especially at Trinkaus Manor and Twin Ponds. She was a member of the D.A.V. Stars & Stripes Chapter # 82 Auxiliary, and a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Ann is survived by her husband, Anthony; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Anthony Barbato of Victor, NY; her son, Mark Carcone of Utica; her grandchildren, Joseph and Megan Barbato of Pittsford, NY, Anthony Barbato, and Christopher Barbato, both of Victor, NY, Jodie and Greg Ghrist, and Laurie Walker, all of Simi Valley, CA; and her great-grandchildren, Joey, Anna, Victor, Cynthia, Mario, Landon, Casey, and MacKenzie. Survivors also include many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Benedict and Lucretia Carcone, Gloria Lewis, and David Conti. She was predeceased by her sisters and brother-in-law, Isabel Currier, and Violet and Jack Mack; her brother, Frank Lewis; and her in-laws, Valentine Conti, Rose and William Monopoli, and Mario “John” and Carmella Carcone. The family offers sincere appreciation to Ann’s caregivers, Raimonda, Tina, Jamie, Marina, Titiana, Lori, and Christina; and Hospice nurses, Adele, and Kara for their kindness and sensitivity. The family honored and celebrated Ann’s life in a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ann's funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Felix Colosimo. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. Memorial contributions in Ann’s honor may be considered to Visiting Nurse Hospice; envelopes will be available at the service. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
