Angeline (Militello) Perta

UTICA – Angeline (Militello) Perta, age 95, completed life’s journey and entered into eternal paradise on Friday, June 10, 2022 after a short illness. At the time of need and her passing her family was by her side. Born in Watertown, NY on April 14, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia (Felice) Militello. Her family relocated to Utica when she was four years old and she attended Albany Street School and graduated with the T.R. Proctor High School Class of 1946. On July 30, 1955 she was united in marriage to Peter A. Perta, a union of 33 years until his passing on August 25, 1988. Prior to raising a family, she worked as a Legal Secretary at a local law office. Once her children were grown and in school, she returned to the workforce performing services as a bookkeeper for the Paramount Home Improvement Company until her retirement in 1987. She enjoyed gardening, walking in Proctor Park, listening to music, watching old movie classics, reading, and was a member of the YWCA pool for over twenty years. She was deeply committed to her family and to the Catholic faith and was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony’s (now St. Anthony and St. Agnes) Church. She leaves behind two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Colleen Perta, and Peter and Bernadine Perta (who is affectionately known as “Bimbo”); her brothers and sister-in-law, Anthony Militello, Joseph Militello, and John and Kathie Militello; in-laws, John and Lynne Perta; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Samuel, James, and Reverend Ignatius Militello; along with sisters and brothers-in-law, Josephine and Ralph Testa, and Mary and Frank Paratore; nephew, David Militello; great-niece, Amber Paratore; and in-laws, Lena and John Ficarra, Dominick and Philomena Perta, Rose Perta, Mary and Stuart Sweeney, Antoinette and Charles Ellsworth; nephews, Christopher Perta, Roger Ellsworth; and great-nephews, Jason Goss and Matthew Goss. Special note of thanks are extended to the staff of MVHS at St. Luke’s Healthcare ER, Neurological Unit, and sixth floor for their care and compassion shown during her stay there. The family also wishes to recognize and thank her nieces, Josie Abounader, Ann Plano, and Gina Paratore, who helped her maintain independent living in her home and take her to appointments when needed. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, 932 South Street, corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Angeline’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will be held on Friday morning at 10:00 from the Funeral Home and at 11:00 at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Angeline’s honor may be made to St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church online at www.stanthonystagnes.com or to a charity of your choice; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. She is now reunited with those who have gone before in eternal rest.
