Mrs. Angeline T. "Angie" (Tomaino) Leone

Mrs. Angeline “Angie” (Tomaino) Leone, age 81, of Utica, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2010 with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica on May 18, 1929, Angeline was the daughter of the late Anthony “Tony” and Catherine (Gigliotti) Tomaino. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On September 4, 1948 she married Joseph A. Leone who passed away on August 12, 1985; it was their love and devotion that blessed and secured their 37 years of marriage. Angie was employed by the Head Start Program, and later worked for UNIVAC for several years. She subsequently worked for the Utica City School District in the food service department, the position from which she retired. Angie will be remembered as an extrovert and one who ‘walked along’ those who needed love and support. She had a generous spirit, a happy nature, and a sparkling sense of humor with infectious laughter. She stood for what was right and just, and was always optimistic. She was a politically minded woman and supportive of several local campaigns. She was also quite the traveler, venturing often to visit family, sight see landmarks, and enjoy games of chance. She was adept in arts and crafts and often shared her handmade treasures with her family. Angie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph, Jr. and Mary Leone of Las Vegas, NV, and Michael and Denise Leone of Port St. Lucie, FL; her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Daniel Donaldson of Port St. Lucie, FL, Bernadette Leone of Utica, and Angela and Joseph C. Ming of Cassville; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Joseph; Jonathan, Michael; Nicole, Danny, David; Angela, John; and Anthony and Christopher; and her 15 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her sister and brother-in-law, Rachael and Raymond Ermacor of Utica; her nieces, especially Debbie “Doll” Presiet, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins, and her special aunt Mary Maraffa of CA. She was predeceased by many of her family members and in-laws. Angie’s family celebrated and honored her life in a private gathering. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home (724-6714) or directed to the family. Committal prayers and interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
