Angelina (DeBrango) Mizgala

Mrs. Angelina (DeBrango) Mizgala, age 76, of Whitesboro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center. Born in Utica on September 16, 1929, Angelina was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Marietta (Pesce) DeBrango. She was raised and educated locally. On June 25, 1955 she married Peter Mizgala with whom she shared a union of 42 years prior to his passing on March 30, 1998. Throughout their lives together, Ang and Peter proved that they were well-suited to one another. As an exemplary wife and mother, Ang centered her life on her loved ones by making her family and home her main focus. She was never happier than when she was in the company of her family and at gatherings. She enjoyed cooking and was intrigued by trying new recipes. She possessed a steadfast and faithful dedication to her religious beliefs, highlighted by her devotion to the Blessed Mother. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. Mrs. Mizgala is survived by a daughter, Ann Marie Mizgala of Whitesboro, and Anthony Ferris. Her survivors also include a sister, Lena Ollerenshaw of Utica; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and her in-laws, Mary and Stanley Feketa who were especially kind to her, Betty and William Dumas, John Horba, Michael and Ginny Horba, and Stephen and Florence “Bunny” Mizgala. Ang’s life was blessed with the friendship of Jackie Luvero and Sophie Dubinski, as well as with that of so many others who have been kind and gracious to her. In addition, she leaves her faithful canine companion, Niki. Ang was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Vincenzia “Chancy” and William C. Wicks; a brother, John DeBrango; and her in-laws, Robert Ollerenshaw, Louis Mizgala, Nicholas Horba, Catherine Krenzer, and Anna Chudyk. The family offers its sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center, especially those of 3 West, for their kindness and dedication, to Dr. Omer Yusef for demonstrating outstanding consideration and concern, and to Ang’s niece, Irene Kurtelawcz RN, who tended her with devotion and compassion. Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 4-7 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Mrs. Mizgala’s funeral will commence on Thursday morning at 10:30 from the funeral home and at 11:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
