Angela M. (Pisano) Surace

Mrs. Angela M. (Pisano) Surace, age 90, of Utica, and a resident of the Heritage Healthcare Center, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 1, 2009 when she passed away at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Born in Utica on December 30, 1918, Angela was the daughter of the late Angelo and Maggie (Nole) Pisano. She was raised and educated locally. On June 17, 1939 she married Frank A. Surace with whom she shared a 36 year union prior to his passing on November 8, 1975; the couple enjoyed a special, loving relationship marked by memories of many happy times together. A devoted wife and mother, Angela was dedicated to her family and home. As a pastime activity, she enjoyed playing bingo. A spiritual woman and devout Catholic, she was a communicant of the former Blessed Sacrament Church and recently a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Angela is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Marilyn Surace of New Hampshire; her daughter and son-in-law, Marie A. and Gerald P. Suppa of Canastota; her grandchildren, Sean and Leslie Surace of N. Carolina, Michael and Kerry Suppa of Sylvan Beach, and Jerry Suppa of Oneida; and her great-grandchildren, Meghan Surace, Lilly Surace, Edward Humphries, Laura Suppa, Justin Tornatore, and Kayla Suppa. Survivors also include her sister, Margaret Spado of Rome, NY; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law, Antoinette Ferraro of CA. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, John and Carmella (Merola) Pisano; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna and Carlo Biancardi, Laura Pisano, Sam Spado; and numerous other in-laws that have preceded her in death. The family wishes to acknowledge with love and gratitude Carl and Mary Ann Biancardi, and John and Mickey Paolozzi for all their kindness to Aunt Angie throughout the years. In keeping with Angela's wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Angela's funeral service which will commence on Wednesday morning at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
