Angela M. (Paciello) D'Amico

Mrs. Angela M. (Paciello) D’Amico, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in the comfort and privacy of her home in Florida, with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica on February 10, 1930, Angela was the daughter of the late Rocco D. and Louise (Salvatore) Paciello. Raised and educated in the area, she was a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School. On July 1, 1950 she married Salvatore M. D’Amico with whom she shared nearly 60 years devoted to one other and their family. Angela worked as an executive secretary at the General Electric Company/French Road Plant for 28 years, retiring in 1989. As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was a source of warmth, understanding, and security. She was loyal to her children and devoted her life to them, always eager to encourage and instill confidence in all their endeavors. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and honored family traditions handed down from generations past. In Florida, Angela often sat in her patio, a place where she enjoyed the sunny weather and savored the serenity and simplicity of nature. Among her other interests, she was an avid fan of baseball hockey and soccer. A sociable woman, she was fond of the company of friends and peers, and attended the NY Mills and the Whitesboro Senior Centers. She also liked the sparkle and fun she found on her trips to various casinos. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Angela is survived by her husband, Salvatore; her sons and daughters-in-law, Donald S. and Patty D’Amico of New Hartford, Daniel R. and Leslie D’Amico of Sunrise, FL, and David M. and Margo D’Amico of Plantation, FL; her grandchildren, David and Malea D’Amico, Ryan and Tara D’Amico, Dana and Tom Ingerson, Daniel and Kelly D’Amico, Joseph D’Amico, Raymond Puma, Michael D’Amico, Derick D’Amico, and Diana D’Amico; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Julia, Christopher, and Leah. She was proud to know of an expectant grandchild in September. Survivors also include her sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Anthony Pandolfo, Jr. of New Hartford; her brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Theresa Paciello of Utica; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, Dorothy and Robert Roberts of Utica, and her many special friends. Visitation will be held Sunday (today) from 2:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Angela’s honor to the American Cancer Society; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Angela’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Monday morning at 10:30 from the funeral home and at 11:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
