Mrs. Amelia "Millie" (Cappelli) Tucci

Mrs. Amelia “Millie” (Cappelli) Tucci, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the comfort and love of her family beside her. Born in Utica on March 9, 1921, Amelia was the daughter of the late Angelo and Gilda (Saracino) Cappelli. She was raised and educated locally. On December 16, 1942 she wed Anthony Tucci with whom she shared half a century in a marriage of their generation based on fortitude and family. As a couple they complimented each other in their efforts to share common values. Millie had a powerful presence and possessed a very strong sense of purpose. She worked extremely hard towards her goals and was gracious in her demeanor. Some of her truly special times in her life revolved around social occasions, and gatherings spent with family and friends. Her family marveled at her independence and the determination she displayed throughout her life. Millie worked at the General Electric Company and Hamilton Digital. In her retirement years she found her true niche as a manicurist with her daughter-in-law at Maria Tucci Hair Design from which many wonderful and enchanting relationships aspired. She was of the Catholic faith. Millie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and John Robinson of Airmont, NY; her sons and daughter-in-law, Anthony M. Tucci of Austin,TX, and David and Maria Tucci of Marcy; her grandchildren, David and Jill Tucci, Marc Tucci; Christopher Robinson, Daniel and Nicole Robinson, and William Robinson; and her great-grandson, Dominick David Tucci and his girlfriend Chelsea Ciotti. Also left to fondly remember her are her nieces, and nephews, especially acknowledging Esther and John McGee, Andrew and Eileen Guzzetti, Glenn and Karin Guzzetti, Dr. Peter and Lorraine Guzzetti; Judy and David Cusimano; Ronald “Budda” and Elizabeth Sacco, and Carol Sacco, Agricola and Cheryl Tucci; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Liz” Cappelli. Millie’s life has always been filled with treasured friendships through the years. Millie was a motherly friend to Joann, Lucretia, Judy, Geraldine, Dr Parlato and Dr Kussin. She was also grateful to all of her dedicated clients over the years some who became good friends as well. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael V. Cappelli; her in-laws with whom she shared a great closeness, Ada and Bernard “Rusty” Sacco, Clementine and Andrew Guzzetti, Agricola, Sr. and Violet Tucci, and Esther and Francis Christopher. The family wishes to sincerely thank Dr. Fred Talarico and Pat Rosati for their longtime commitment to Millie’s well being. Thanks also to the staff of the Special Care Unit at St. Elizabeth Medical Center who gave the family the comfort, dignity, and empathy that was needed at such a difficult time. Also to NYU Medical Lancome Center for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St. , corner of Hammond Ave. Millie’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Sister Elizabeth Giarrusso, CSJ, officiating the ceremony. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
