Amelia Jabour

UTICA - Amelia Jabour, age 84, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022 in the comfort and dignity of her home, with those she loved most in her heart. Born in Utica on September 14, 1938, Amelia was the daughter of the late Naseem and Zaheya (Abdulla) Jabour. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and attended the Utica School of Commerce (USC). During her employment years, Amelia worked at Chicago Market and at the Off-Track Betting Company (OTB) as an attendant; she took pleasure in the kind patronage of the customers until her retirement. In all her life’s endeavors, Amelia was an honorable woman, a kind soul blessed with the gifts of conversation and counsel, coupled with a compassionate heart. Amelia was a lifelong member of St. Louis Gonzaga Church and a member of the St. Mary’s Guild, St. Moura’s Ladies Society, and the St. Joseph Society. She also volunteered her time to work at the church, her family through faith. Amelia is survived by her many nieces, nephews, great- nieces nephews, and great-great niece and nephews. Her life-long friends, Anthony Pelli, and Antoinette Bevivino. She was predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-law, William Jabour, and Anthony and Marion Jabour; and her sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Oscar F. Kempf. The family extends sincere appreciation to Father Boutros El Hachem and Deacon Paul Salamy; Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., US Care Systems, Inc., especially Dina Bektic; Hillary Holden, PA; and the entire staff of Acacia Village, and the friends that she made there. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Amelia’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Thursday morning, October 20, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Gonzaga Church where her Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated by Father Boutros El Hachem, Pastor. Memorial contributions in Amelia’s honor may be considered to the St. Louis Gonzaga Church Building Fund online at https://saintlouisgonzagachurch.breezechms.com/give/online; envelopes will also be available at the service. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
