Mr. Ame Rocco Jweid

E. UTICA – Ame Rocco Jweid went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Born in Utica on April 27, 1943, Ame was the son of the late Ame and Margaret (Alesandro) Jweid. He was a proud graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1962. On June 4, 1966, Ame was united in marriage to the former Lorraine M. Scianni. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and enduring memories. At an earlier stage in his career, Ame was employed by Cardamone Produce, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. He later transitioned into a successful career as a life insurance consultant with John Hancock, where he guided countless families with care and integrity. After his time there, Ame remained active and engaged, embracing new roles as a blackjack dealer at Turning Stone Casino Resort and a delivery driver for Parkway Drugs. He continued to work diligently until his illness. Ame was a man of great kindness and courtesy, known for his generous heart and gentle spirit. He held a profound love for his family, greeting each member with a warm embrace and his beautiful sense of humor that could brighten any room. He found his greatest joy in the company of his beloved grandchildren, cherishing the laughter and memories they created together. His favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with his family. He especially cherished moments at the north county camp with his cousins, Rick, and Greg Jweid. Ame also enjoyed playing cards and socializing with “the guys” at their local gathering spot affectionately referred to as “the joint.” Ame was a member of St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Ame is survived by his devoted wife, Lorraine; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and David Holmes, and Melanie and Dr. Mahesh Padmanabhan; and his beloved grandchildren, Matthew Holmes, Brandon Holmes, Madison Holmes; Maya Padmanabhan, and Luca Padmanabhan. He fondly remembered his siblings who preceded him, Rosemary “Ro” Jweid, Frank M. “Butch” Jweid, and Louis “Louie” Jweid. He will be remembered with love by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and in-laws, Carol Cifarelli (the late Joseph P. “Joe” Cifarelli), and Melanie and Ron Usyk. Ame will be dearly missed by the many special friends he amassed throughout his life. He was additionally predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence C. and Anna L. (Moreno) Scianni; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Terry and Frank Stooks; and nephew, Christopher L. “Chris” Usyk. The family extends their sincerest gratitude to Ame's physicians, Dr. Samir DeSai, Dr. Nabin Adhikari, Dr. Goutham Malempati, and Dr. Julie Betro-Skane, for their compassion and care. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ame’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life, which will commence on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
