Albert F. Francis

Mr. Albert F. Francis, age 74, of Deerfield, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday April 18, 2010 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his loving family at his side. Born in Utica on May 13, 1935, Albert was the son of the late John F., Sr. and Katherine (Cierlik) Francis. He was raised and educated locally. He was proud to serve his country as a U.S. Army Veteran. On November 23, 1957 he married the former Loretta M. Marchione with whom he shared a loving union for 52 years. Albert was a dedicated employee of the General Electric Company for 33 years, retiring as a foreman. He will be remembered by his co-workers for his willingness to assist whenever he could. At home, his family was everything to him. He loved his children unconditionally and was a supportive father, always available to listen or advise. He was an independent man, blessed with an uplifting sense of humor and an admirable character. With his altruistic nature, he had a desire to help and accommodate the needs of others before his own. He enjoyed a good meal and he loved a good deal when he shopped for specials. He was also a handyman, and a creative woodworker who made many memorable articles for family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie Lodge #97 where he also enjoyed golfing. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Albert is survived by wife, Loretta; his daughters, Concetta M. Francis of Aliquippa, PA, and Tammy M. Francis and fiancé David Buskey of Floyd; and his son and daughter-in-law, Albert A. and Margaret Francis of Schuyler. Survivors also include his brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Pat Francis, and Arthur “Archie” and Rosalie Francis, all of Utica; his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Sara Marchione of Syracuse, Jennie T. Mucitelli, Samuel J. Marchione, and Carol Francis, all of Utica; his many special friends and good neighbors, including Lydia and Jack Cofano, Pauline and Bob Grande, Judy and Phil Rolchigo, and Lucille DeSimone. He was predeceased by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Eleanor and Chester Pollack, Gloria and Roscoe Stocker, and Irene and Fredrick Bodurtha; his brother, John F. Francis; and his in-laws, Frank A. Mucitelli, Phyllis and Jerry Pastorelli, Mary R. Lomonico, James Marchione, Joseph Marchione, Connie and Joseph Razzano, and Charles and Nancy Marchione. The family is grateful to the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department for their rapid response and efforts; the staff of Kunkel Ambulance for their professionalism; and Rev. Anthony LaFache for his spiritual guidance. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Albert’s funeral service will commence on Saturday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Committal services will follow with entombment at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum with full Military Honors conferred.
