Albert "Al" Butler

Mr. Albert “Al” Butler, age 67, of Frankfort, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 17, 2008. Born in Florida on December 3, 1940, Albert was the son of the late Iona (Riley) Butler. He was raised and educated in Florida, and relocated to central New York in 1960. On August 28, 1982 he married the former Donna Plano with whom he shared 25 tender and loving years. Al’s patience and understanding were the cornerstones of his character. Al worked as a long-haul truck driver, and he dedicated his time at home to raising his family. He warmed any room with his laugh and sense of humor, and because he was blessed with a forgiving and patient personality, it allowed him to be an outstanding mentor, father, and grandfather. Honest and gentle by nature, he always believed in the best in others; he saw and valued what goodness and beauty people possessed on the inside. Al was truly a gentle man. He was also a faithful man who held a strong belief in God’s will and helping hand, and prayer was deeply important to him. He was an optimistic man, but he remained in touch with the realities of the world. Al appreciated nature by fishing and observing the birds and squirrels at home. During his spare time he enjoyed playing nickel and penny machines at the casino. Albert is survived by his beloved wife, Donna; his adored children and their families, Amber L. “Ambie” Butler and David Waters, Diane and Mark Miller, and their children Kaleigh “Cookie” and Marissa “Crumb", and Ron Gage and his fiancée Rachel A. DePerno, and their children, Ronnie “Jitterbug”, Connor, and Dakota, all of Frankfort; Lori Ann Jackson, and Ulysses Butler, both of FL.; his 6 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren, all of FL; a niece, Teal Vivacqua and a nephew, Freddy Vivacqua along with his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Fred and MaryBeth Vivacqua. He also leaves his relatives and friends in Florida and his many dear friends locally. He was predeceased by his son, Al Butler, Jr. who died in Florida on October 30, 1990; his grandson, Michael John “Mikey” DePerno, who died on April 10, 2006; and his grandmother who helped raise him. The family is grateful to the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center 6th floor staff and the Critical Care Unit for providing such compassion and care to Al and his family. Visitation will be held Tuesday (tomorrow) from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Al’s Celebration of Life which will commence at 6:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation.
