Agnes M. (Zogby) Ferris

Mrs. Agnes M. (Zogby) Ferris, age 90, of Utica, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Presbyterian Home for Central NY, Inc. Born in Syracuse, NY on October 11, 1919, Agnes was the daughter of the late Shaheen and Nabeha S. (Nojaim) Zogby. Raised and educated in Utica, she was a member of the first graduating class of T. R. Proctor High School. On October 31, 1944 she wed Edward G. Ferris with whom she shared her life for 65 devoted years. Agnes’ vocation of caring for her family and home was her priority. Her grandchildren and great-granddaughters were a blessing to her and brought much joy to her life. Her caring ways will live on in the memories of her loved ones. She was a parishioner of St. Louis Gonzaga Church. Agnes is survived by her husband, Edward; her daughter, Diane A. Ferris; and her son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Philomena Ferris, all of Utica; her grandchildren, Michael and Noelle Ferris of Utica, Steven and Janelle Ferris of Dexter, NY, and Nicole Ferris of Utica; and her great-granddaughters, Madelyn and Leah. Survivors also include her sister, Adele Jones of New Hartford; her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Carol Zogby of Utica; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Sarah Abraham, Josephine Ferris, Josephine Johnson, and Anthony and Mercedes Ferris. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph A.T. Zogby; and her in-laws, Frank Ferris, Anthony M. “Mitch” Abraham, Clifford Jones, Angeline and Dominick DiObilda, Mercedes Ferris, Leo Ferris, and George Ferris. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the Willow Unit at the Presbyterian Home for Central NY, Inc. for the loving care they rendered to Agnes. In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Agnes’ funeral service which will commence on Thursday morning at 11:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church where the Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be celebrated by Chorbishop John D. Faris. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Agnes’ honor to the United Cerebral Palsy Association; envelopes will be available at the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
