Agnes (Hanna) Karam

Mrs. Agnes (Hanna) Karam, age 79, of Utica, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2007, at the Masonic Care Community with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on November 11, 1927, Agnes was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Elias) Hanna. She was raised and educated locally. On February 7, 1948 she married Fred J. Karam with whom she shared 51 years in a union filled with love and devotion prior to his passing on June 20, 1999. Agnes began her employment at Divine Brothers Manufacturing Co. & later the American Emblem Co. Also, for many years she worked as a bus driver along side her sister for the Utica City School District. A warm and cordial woman, Agnes enjoyed socializing with and cooking for family and friends. As an avid bowler, she participated in many local leagues. She was a communicant of St. Louis Gonzaga Church. Agnes is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Donald Henderson of Whitesboro, and Bernadette and Richard Sunderlin of Utica; she cherished in her heart the memory of her son Tady Michael Karam who preceded her in death; her son, Frederick A. Karam of New Hartford; and her daughter-in-law, Susan Karam. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Henderson and fiancée Tori Williams, Geoffrey Henderson, and Brianne Henderson, all of Whitesboro; Ryan Sunderlin, Christopher Sunderlin, and Nicholas Sunderlin, all of Utica; Jennifer Karam, Jaclyn Karam, Nicole Karam, and Matthew Karam, all of New Hartford; her many nieces, especially Kathy Maline, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Joseph J. Maline, Galeb Karam, Lillian Sfeir, Ernest T. and Marian Karam, and Ava Karam, all of Utica; and her friends of many years, Madelyn George, and Fannie Tamer. She was predeceased by her sister, Lillian A. Maline. The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to the Masonic Care Community, especially the Forestport Neighborhood for their care and compassion. A special thank you is extended to all the “Tallulahs” and “Big Boy”. Visitation will be held Tuesday (today) from 6:00 – 8:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. The Prayer of Incense will be offered on Tuesday evening at 7:45 at the funeral home. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Agnes’ honor to the Masonic Medical Research Lab; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The funeral service will commence on Wednesday morning at 9:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
