Agatha (Dannes) Robertaccio

Mrs. Agatha (Dannes) Robertaccio, age 91, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the St. Luke’s Home. Born in Utica on March 7, 1916, Agatha was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Santina (Ferrera) Dannes. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On August 16, 1939 she was joined in marriage to John L. Robertaccio with whom she shared a blessed union of 55 years until his passing on March 18, 1995. For several years, Agatha was employed by the Utica City School District in the food service department. A devoted family woman, she loved to be a gracious hostess for all the holidays, preparing her fabulous cuisine for all who celebrated at her home. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, and most recently Historic Old St. John’s Church. Agatha is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Carol Robertaccio of Utica. She was preceded in death by her sons, John A. Robertaccio, and Francis L. Robertaccio, whose memories she held close to her heart. Also surviving is her daughter-in-law, Michelene “Mikey” Robertaccio of St. Louis, MO; her grandchildren, John and Lisa Robertaccio, Ben Robertaccio, Gabrielle and Fred LaBella, Lieut. Mateo Robertaccio, USN and his fiancée Joy Zelinski, and Teresa Robertaccio; and her three great-grandchildren. In addition, she leaves her brother, Vincent J. Dannes of Albany; her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose E. and Florindo A. “Flo” Ciancaglini, and Mary and Mario Iovine; and her in-laws, Lucy Dannes, Frank Robertaccio, and Beatrice Robertaccio. The family extends gratitude to the entire staff of the St. Luke’s Home for the care and attention shown to Agatha and her family. In keeping with Agatha’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Monday morning at 9:30 at Historic Old St. John’s Church. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Agatha’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or a charity of your choice; envelopes will be available at the church. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
