Dr. Mary Louise (Bakert) Yoder

Dr. Mary Louise (Bakert) Yoder, DC, age 60, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center. Born in Buffalo, NY on March 18, 1955, Mary was the daughter of Norma Janet Marie (Schwartz) Bakert and the late Arthur Charles Bakert. She was a well-educated woman whose schooling spanned 20 years. She earned her Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine from Life Chiropractic College in 1986. She and her husband, Dr. William R. Yoder, DC, were a hardworking and dedicated couple, inseparable in raising their family and building their careers together. Along with her husband, Mary owned and operated Chiropractic Family Care in Whitesboro for 28 years. She was a beloved woman and well-known member of her community who touched countless lives throughout her working and social life. She was wholeheartedly holistic and believed in the therapeutic power of healing that considers the body, mind, and soul. In balancing her life, Mary loved gardening, as evidenced by the beautiful gardens at her home. She also enjoyed dancing, especially Bollywood, Belly, and African Dancing. She was a gifted artist and pursued photography, painting, and pottery. She was a member of the World Music Choir, singing and drumming as a talented musician. She was an affiliate of the New York State Chiropractic Association and a patron of the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute. But above all else, Mary was the absolute best grandmother who lovingly adored each of her grandkids. They were the center of her life. Mary is survived by her husband, Dr. William R. Yoder, DC; her mother, Norma Janet Marie Bakert; her children and their loved ones, Liana and Tony Hegde, Tamaryn Yoder and Dave Gravelding, and Adam Yoder and Katie Conley; and her grandchildren who she loved more than life, Madan, Rajan, Kiran, and Irissa; Julian, Katrina, and Sully. She also leaves her sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen Richmond, Sarah Bakert, Janine and Donald King, Patricia Bakert Miceli, and Sharon and George Mills; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Natalie Bakert, and Arthur and Suzanne Bakert; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, too numerous to count who loved her; and her patients, fellow artists, and friends who were woven into the tapestry of her life. She was loved by all. She was predeceased by her in-laws, Morgan Bebee, Charles Miceli, and Bruce Richmond. Mary’s family honored and commemorated her life in a private gathering in her gardens at her home.
