Mr. Kevin D. Meenan

UTICA – Mr. Kevin D. Meenan, age 70, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Born in Utica on May 12, 1954, Kevin was the son of the late Bernard Meenan, Sr. and Nellie H. (Wentworth) Jurkowski. Kevin was raised and educated in Utica. A man who knew his way around the kitchen, his last position was being a cook at the Waffle House. Kevin had a heart of gold and a wonderful nature. His passion was caring for anything living. He looked out for creatures great and small. Kevin also had a wonderful talent of being able to hold intelligent conversations on a variety of topics. He had a wide scope of interests, with a particular focus on history. A prolific storyteller, he loved to reminisce. Kevin also enjoyed the excitement of horse racing, especially at Vernon Downs and OTB. One of his favorite times of the year was the Kentucky Derby. Additionally, he was an avid fisherman. Above all else, he was very spiritual, and most proud of his family. Kevin always treasured the memory of his daughter, Bridgette, who passed away. He is survived by his siblings and their loves, Kathleen and Frank Zammiello, Ida Bonanza (the late Robert “Bob” Bonanza, Sr.), Donald H. “Joe” Meenan, Bernard H. Meenan, Jr. (the late Kathleen “Kathy” (Talerico) Meenan), Charles and Lynda Cooper; and sister-in-law, Haynie Jurkowski. He fondly remembered his siblings and brother-in-law who preceded him, Theresa I. (Roller) and Raymond Wells, Cynthia Meenan, and Clifford Arnold Jurkowski, II. He leaves his memory to his nieces and nephews, especially Frankie Zammiello, Anthony Zammiello; and Missy and Shawn Schmidt; many great-nieces and great-nephews, particularly acknowledging, Gianna Schmidt, and Michalena Schmidt; and friends, Kevin Novak, and Rich Bueller. He was additionally predeceased by his loving companion of many years, June Menard. The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Dulkin, Kevin’s trusted physician, for his friendship and professionalism. A Memorial Gathering in Kevin’s honor will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 3:00-4:00 p.m., at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Kevin’s Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
