Every person must cope with loss of a loved one on his or her own terms. The emotional upheaval of these trying times is sometimes so overwhelming that even the support of friends and family may not help relieve the amount of sadness and grief you feel.

At Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. we provide information for the following aftercare grief sessions:

Chris Abbass
Chris Abbass provides the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. with many services in the area of bereavement support. She offers counseling, conversation, and dialogue in one-on-one sessions and in family group meetings. In the late autumn she conducts an annual workshop under the title “Coping for the Holidays.” She officiates at some of the funeral services and candle ceremonies that take place here at our funeral home. All in all, the help, consolation, and guidance she provides are of incalculable value to individual mourners and to family-and-friend groups who are coping with loss.

Chris’s experience and preparation in this field derive from both her personal life and her formal training. Soon after suffering the loss of her husband , Richard, in August of 1992, she sought insight and solace by attending a support group for widows and widowers. Within two years she was co-facilitating a similar group with Sister Rose B. Troy, a highly respected counselor in the field. It was not long before she was also co-conducting the well-known 6-week Bereavement Sessions with Sister Rose. Since her initial entry into the field of bereavement support, Chris has attended numerous educational conferences and workshops by reputable groups that offer training in this highly specialized field. Through intensive study, she has earned certification as a Bereavement Facilitator from the American Academy of Bereavement and also permanent certification in Bereavement Studies from Maria College in Albany. She has also studied with Doug Manning to become a Certified Funeral Celebrant through the Insight Institute.
